Must you always be a dick? Look at the tread patterns. Theyre the exact same.

Ive autox'ed with both and the BFGs feel more consistent over a run, dont squeal and didnt fall off as much toward the end of its life. I even felt that grip was greater with the BFGs.

As time went on, the factory developed the car each year, making it faster, more comfortable, and capable of handling at higher speeds.
You don’t want this. You want the trickiest, most dangerous, oldest model you can find. Only then can you prove to the world that you’re a man.

Since when does tread pattern effect tread wear?

One tire is not "better" then another tire when you don't mention what it does "better". Dry acceleration, wet acceleration, dry maximum g holding, wet maximum g holding, responsiveness, sidewall stiffness, tread wear, noise, grip curve, the list goes on... and they are all compromises, one tire doesn't "do it all".

I wasn't trying to be a dick when I asked that, because from what I've seen that's where the BFG is considered better - tread wear. Along with road noise and comfort. I've used both in competitive environments and agree with the tire rack test results that show the RS2 has slightly better overall handling qualities. Where it lacks is braking (both wet and dry), and tread life.

anything with more than 140 treadwear is definitely not an R-comp. there are 'r-comp' street tires which try to bring r-comp performance to a street tire, but it's not the same thing obviously.

I'm actually stuck in the same situation... As soon as winter ends, I need some good summer tires to replace my Potenza G009s (good tire for an all-season, actually). RE01Rs top my book, but they're just the wrong size. The direzzas are apparently very good tires as well, though, but they are also the wrong size...

I don't think S-03 is even an r-comp street tire (not sure what that is anyways). S-03 is strictly a high performance summer street tire. I was not suggesting they are r-comps. My 540 runs S-03s. My track car runs BFG G-Force R1s which are r-comps. nando got confused.

btw, if you can still find them S-03s are an excellent summer tire. I've been on track with them on both the 540 and my e30 and the performance in terms of grip, handling and stability is excellent for a street tire.

As close to stock as possible, which would be 205/55/15 on 15x7 rims. I would go up to 215 or 225 if I had to to get a good quality tire, with corresponding change in aspect ratio.
