dude it took me 1min per side to remover VERT springs ( much bigger than stock I/E/IS springs ) Like I said above, Remover the lower shock bolt then remove the lower bolt for the sway bar link and pull the trailing arm/wheel down. Use a pry bar to push the sping out sideways. Remover spring pads and put in new spring. Pull the sway bar link down and put the bolt back. Same goes for the shock and DONE. Seriously its like a 10min job including jacking the car up on both sides.

 I did a rear coilover install by myself in my parking garage with nothing more than a factory jack, 19mm, 13mm and large flathead. And that was a vert, mind you. Subframe never necessary.They were stock springs. Fully extended they're almost 2-3 inches taller than generic lowering springs. Jumping on the hub almost worked, but I still needed a good inch of clearance because of the rubber spring hats
 I had no compressor vices, therefor, dropping the subframe was my only option as I was short on cash and I needed the car street worthy the next day
 
 
 Sounds much harder than it really is.. Subframe is oly held up by like 2 bolts and 4 on the diff. The 4 on the side of the car to remove the subframe mounts are optional but recomended1989 325is / 2.7, 274 cam, e30 M3 5-lug
