If a starter is bad, would the car even crank? Slow crank? Slow crank and just not start?

If the car won't start, but I am able to start it with someone using jumper cables, it points fault solely at the battery, no?

Not for my e30 btw.

have you tried the "smack the starter with a hammer" technique. From my experience if the starter is bad the car wont even crank. Easy check is wiggle the starter wire for looseness.

The car cranks, then little by little keeps cranking at a weaker pace till it wont crank at all.
At the same time the cluster lights pulsate on each crank.

AAA sent the wrong guy to test the battery/starter/alt, so I waited for another guy only for them to send the wrong guy again. The reason why I ask is because the wrong guy swore it's the starter because when he jumped me the car sort of cranked weak.. but then again I immediately tried starting the car as soon as he hooked the terminals instead of letting it sit for a minute with his truck running.

I know I'm blabbering about something that is so simple to fix/check, but this guy literally wanted to bet me money that it's the starter when I stated that I don't believe it to be. I'm only going through AAA because batteries are $99 with 6 year warranty with free servicing.

Sounds like the battery dude. I sell batteries/starters all day every day and your situation sounds positively like a battery issue.

Sometimes the problem isn't with the battery or starter, but when the part is replaced, the connects are retightened and the problem "just happens" to go away, when the original problem was not diagnosed correctly.

sounds like a battery, especially if its not on your car and its on a newer car. they come with economy batteries and usually last 3 years tops. But i had the same problem a few weeks ago, it would slow crank until it would just click and swapped the battery and BAM! starts up like a champ everytime.
