I know.... when the smog guy asks you what kind of clutch you have, you know you’re in trouble
At first he was telling me he cant smog it because it vibrates.............
Then I told him you're in fourth, not second...
Then he opens the hood and tries to hold it up by hyper-extending the hinge
Then I told him, it doesn't work like that
Then i failed.

Yeah my hood shock exploded when I was closing the hood last week.
I was pretty salty with him after he wanted to pull the plug on the test because he couldn’t find second.
At least my emissions are really good, so I’m going to smoke test the tank and take care of it. I bet it’s the fill hose

Any good exhaust recommendations? I've been running a stock one on my car for over a year now and I want some noise again. I don't want something too loud that'll attract too much attention, just want it to sound nice. Maybe even change out the headers for something else. What are your guys' thoughts?
EDIT: Oh the engine's an M20 btw.Comment

Hey guys, at the risk of asking a question that's likely been beaten to death, I'm looking for a little headers wisdom. I'm totally new to the e30 world but found myself with a nearly perfect, free, early 318 -- and a garage full of spare ChumpCar race parts. Long story short, I have a fresh IE 2.9L stroker sitting on a stand and I'm want to run a set of long tubes. Lots of cheap eBay options for under $100. IE comes in at $500 and Racing Dynamics has a group but right now for $1000. I know this sounds ridiculous, but this is a budget build. Assuming I'm willing to do some bending and welding, are the eBay headers really that bad? Most of the complaints I find (which are many) emanate from several years back.
Would love some reasonable thoughts.Comment

Never used the Ebay ones, but lots of people run them. They have been compared to IEs so there's that.
Budget means, you gotta keep your cost down, but what are you gaining really?@IRON-E30 aka Edwin:DComment

A friend had a Stromung on his m20 car and it sounded pretty good without being obnoxious. Fit and finish was very nice. Was a little louder than the Dinan muffler on my e36, but certainly doable for daily driving. There's usually a yearly group buy too on these.
Another option is to get a Magnaflow welded in. The 14815 is the model you'll come across. I have a Magnaflow on my car, but they are generally on the louder side. Great for wide open throttle, but definitely wish it was quieter around town, and it drones at low RPMs, so just something to consider.Comment
