If your car was an early car and did not have a check engine light, you will need to add one for your engine. Otherwise it is not BAR legal.

Or if you did have one and did not wire up yours that fails also.

Do you know anyone that has a Carb legal s50b32 in CA?

How do you expect the CARB referee to pass off on a motor that was never sold on any car in the US? What smog/equipment standards is he going to use?
I don't think there is any way to get a s50b32 legitimately CARB certified.

this is what i am worried about. do i make it look more like a US s50(no headers) to bar it or is there a special system for engines not sold here?

This. If it didn't come out of any other smoggable, later model year, same make vehicle, it won't happen. These guys can be tricked, but not that blatant. Can you pull off an s52 as OBDI m50 yes, but this, I'm gonna say no go.

Why do you want to BAR it? I'd just do a clean job of the install and then smog it at a place that won't notice the visual.

lol it's not just the headers. The referee will definitely notice little things like ITBs...

My apologies I read the engine code too quickly.

It is not legally possible to BAR a euro motor. You might get lucky, but that would be luck. If it must be BARred, you should start with an S54, which is at least technically possible.

if i buy a US s50, get that BARed, then swap to an evo s50. how bad is that? like would anyone notice or does the bar sticker give it away that its another engine?

No, since it's a euro engine that was never sold here in the US. Makes more sense to go S54 these days. At least that engine was sold here and are plentiful.
