That means it hasn't been done in forever. Only need to replace master and slave if they are leaking or not functioning....

i was in a rush and couldn't fine anyone selling ATE, other wise i wouldn't be asking. as for the black fluid question my dad was saying it should preempt and replace the whole clutch system.
if you think that fluid is crap ill replace it asap, otherwise it will just get used as is.

i thought they did. however, mine does not. it is the exact same system as a late model 325i

You mean between the quicker 2.7 rack and the run-of-the-mill 3.2? Yeah you can just look at it. The 2.7 ltl will have a smooth metal "sheath" over the passenger's side half of it, like so:



The regular E36 is just waffled metal like the stock rack.
