For the times he knows HE is wrong but he just doesn't want to admit it; those are the times were hypocrisy speaks louder than words. I am referring to those times

Coming off as a self-proclaimed douche: no one is going to listen to you no matter HOW right you are

You do realize that we are talking about approximately 50 mm or 1.96 inches per tire difference right? From 195 to 245 's
So multiply that x 2 cause the contact patch has been increased on each tire (right and left) .So 4 inches at most will see the ground versus the thinner tires.

Is 4 more inches a good idea? Sure! Does the compound of the tire matter?Of course! Compound is essential in the dry while tread pattern is essential in the wet.

So does a better compound of rubber +4 inches make more traction possible.
Simple facts stated above make this true.

However , tires do not make as much difference as the driver. Especially seasoned drivers. The more driving done on a specific tire /rim combo will allow one to "brain map" just about exactly where the rear or front tires will break loose and loose traction.

This is very well illustrated by proficient competent drift car drivers. They actually must learn and understand exactly where the tire looses grip and exploit that.

I vote for addressing the drivers abilities and learning the handling characteristics. In Stevens defense he has not had hours and hours of track time to dial in the exact characteristics of his vert so with more displacement (Sxx swap) there is a learning curve that needs to be overcome.

Im not going to armchair quaterback Steven's tire choices or any choices he makes with HIS vert , but I dont like to see a kind of "build up"of posts that detail crashes from any person (member of the forum or not) as I realize there may be a potential foretelling of the future in which one of these crashes is not just a trashed control arm, bent lip and other comparatively small parts damaged but instead a major catastrophy. So from someone who is old enough to be Steven's dad I would caution him to keep the Hoonism in check and that vert will only continue to improve over time!

(speaking for myself) Im just trying to give you advice (and get it from others) on getting a proper tire so you have better traction. I have an M52 with S52 cams and it overpowers my 205s all the time. If I already had an event where my car met a curb from my driving antics, Id be more cautious about choosing a better tire. I also plan on taking the car to HPDE and auto-x events so I can push the car safely to learn its limits. but Im in my 30s and have already wrecked enough cars so thats my .02 on this subject. Having already spent the money on the tires, I would advise you to consider taking the car to events where you can safely push the car and learn its limits. or not. but dont get all whiney when we bust your balls if it happens again. hopefully nobody gets hurt

195s vs 205s isn't going to be insta-not-crash. Learn to drive.

Dang, I'd love to but I'm committed elsewhere. Should be a good show, lots of P51s and other warbirds. There might even be a couple Reno unlimiteds there.

I understand the need for more grip. I finally have a reasonable amount to tame this thing. 225/50/14 Hankook Ventus C71 race tires. I've gone from 195/55/14s to 205/55/14s to 225/50/14s on this car. Now that I don't have a season to run, the car sticks.
