any recommendation for shop in the south bay to do a full stock engine rebuild for 1991 m42?
How about instead of wasting money on that POS engine. locate a s50b30, clean it up and drop it in.
or at least F20C swap it if you really like 4cyl for some reason, just dump the m42 now before wasting tons of money to get no real return.

A+ for a grumpy cabriolet's thoughts.
Is a e30m fast? I'll have to ask the cabriolet a question for fun even though I know the answer....
My sway bars showed up at work today, but I can't put them in this weekend because I'm going up to Thunder Hill to be track help for the shop I work at now. My car is so close to having a reasonable suspension setup I can almost taste it.
That's funny, I recently removed an old dinan suspension from my old e36 m3. Sold the struts/shocks, still have the springs...
There is a guy selling sub 10k mile dinan stage 1 suspension with the Dinan fixed camber plates and HD RSMs all ready to go for $600. I already struck a deal with him, I just need to have them picked up.
I had my swap car BAR'd. It's actually really easy if your goal is a legal swap from the beginning.
I keep hearing horror stories of how strict they are just want to guage like the specifics. Like will they fail me for like a droopy air box type thing.
BAR guys want to see that you are running nearly everything OEM. So if it's an obd1 car, you have to make sure you have the right intake and exhaust manifolds, the correct MAF, correct cats, wiring, possibly a VIN number (if present on engine), etc.
I ran a Castro's airbox with my swap and it posed no concern with the Ref. All he cared to see was the MAF and that there were no codes and the car passed all sniffer tests.
