I was going home in stop n go traffic on 237 last Friday evening.

I was in stopped part of traffic and a guy exiting the carpool lane (he didn't even have any passengers to qualify for the carpool lane, and it didn't look like an electric vehicle) smashed into my car, pushing it into the car in front. Two more cars were impacted, for a total of 5 cars involved.

Both quarter panels are bent. Trunk, hood and drivers door don't close.

    :-(

There was no blood, everyone was walking around after the accident.

But I sure am sore. Back and neck are affected.

Even accelerating mildly in my E38 750, I have to rest my head against the head rest.

Requesting NCGC's help finding front (sport, maybe?) seats and a vert rear seat.

Tinkerer needs a family-friendly setup so the Corbeaus and rear-seat-delete in my car won't work for him.

definitely seeing some in the auto parts section of sf bay area Craigslist, black and tan. some were pricey though.

Assuming Tinkerer is keeping his car, then his seats should fit your vert fine.

I've got two sets of black sports seats.

One is a bit weathered but intact black leather that used to be in whee30. Lots of cracks but no major tears. Recliner shocks are dead. (I'd ask $100)

One is awesome condition aftermarket vynil+heated that was going into my black car. Perfect passenger, drivers is in very good shape except some wear on the bolster. Shocks may work, I forget. (I'd ask $200 which is also what I paid)

I can get pics if you're actually interested

I also have a stock vynil rear seat but sadly not for a vert.

I will have to check the drivers seat. It looked "reclined" a little more than I remembered when I was sitting in the passenger seat waiting for the tow truck.

                      Thanks,
                      Bob

You can pull the driver's seat, find a DS sports seat which is sound mechanically and swap over all your vinyl/leather/fabric.

My drivers side sport seat already needs the leather replaced. That was on the list of projects...

Thanks for all the sympathy and support.

My car was an '87 325is in white (Alpine).
My friend gave it to me, unregistered and I payed some back fees, new O2 sensor, cat, bushings. Got it driveable.

Then I got some wheels, currently has some 15" Hartge. I installed Koni shocks and H&R sport springs. Installed some cleaned 4 pintle injectors from MPEH.

I was speculating what engine to install for more power when the timing belt broke. So I bought another M20 from this community. Installed an e36 steering rack, and another down pipe that wasn't broken at the flex joint. And replaced the shift linkage.

I had just got the car back from my mechanic the previous Friday and went to my Dad's house on the other side of Skaggs Springs road by Healdsburg. (What a fantastic drive with the tightened up shift linkage, Z4 shift lever, DSSR and new knuckle on the transmission.)

And then last Friday, BAM! Destroyed E30.

There are a lot of cars out there in varying levels of completion. The lure of the E30, for me, besides the fantastic driving experience has been building the car I want.

Simon's car looks interesting, but I like power windows, and want to make AC work...
Decay's car looks interesting, but a vert is not what the skin doctor recommends. And, I'll have to look for new wheels. :-)

I imagine I will make accommodations to get a daily driver, I just need to figure out my priorities.

I do want a little more power than the stock M20. I was thinking of a stroked M20 to not have to deal with BAR. But have also considered M30, S50/2, S38...

I still need to figure out what insurance will do for me as my insurance is collision only. So, for now I am looking to see what is out there.

For my project I have been looking for good "deals" and it doesn't always work out. One of the used adjustable Koni shocks I got is blown out. It is interesting looking at other people's projects, and trying to value them. I know the cost in time and parts of building your car.

Thanks again for sympathy and condolences.

                              Bob
