M3 is a definite investment, but won't see growth for another 5 years.
If you know which stocks are hot right now yes, they are also good short game return. Everything has been jumping, so now is not a good time for buy in.
I invested in WWE 2 years ago when the shares were $7.79. Bought 100 shares. Summer it jumped to $9.35
I thought cool; that's $200 for sitting on my butt doing nothing. Bought another 30 shares when it dropped to $7.59 in fall. A year later it jumped to $31.
It fell to $19 two weeks ago and I missed my buy in.. It's already on the rise so I can only wait until I can sell the my shares. Like $2k profit so it's not much, but eh; it's pretty much free money. Better than most people who play stocks.
Oh, and being like .02% shareholder, I netted biannual returns. Wasn't much, but every little adds up in stocks
Sprint is looking like a next potential buy in; that or AT&T and invest long gameLast edited by JinormusJ; 04-17-2014, 09:54 AM.Comment

Don't you hate it when you're working on replacing a front wheel bearing and you realize that you are going to need a puller to get the old hub off only when you are trying to get it off by hand and your car is no longer capable of moving? I guess I'm just going to have to walk to O'reilly to rent one.sigpicComment

One good area to invest in right now is in the alternative energy industry.
For my investment banking class this quarter, I'm following & analyzing SolarCity (hq in San Mateo).
Looking at its comps and relevant market its crazy how inelastic demand is for this industry.
If you've got a little bit more capital, give em' a look. They trading @ like 54 rn.
They've experienced some turbulence recently, but their future is mucho promising.
