I'd say find someone driving to bimmerfest and offer them $50-100 because you're not gonna get a better deal.
The first car I ever rode in was an e30

i saw that car on CL. i don't want a mechanic's special with a bad HG, and i don't really want to let go of my ITB setup either, and all of that aside, kronus has advised a full donor is not really the way to go anyway.

you've gotta be able to find a good running M42 on http://car-part.com/ - e36 318i/s' sold like hotcakes in the 90s.

Vanos? I believe the vanos was rebuilt not too long ago. But I could be wrong on that. What could be wrong with it? Also, my car tops out at 100mph ever since I connected my speed sensor on my diff...

Either way, if you're willing to sell it I'm interested. With or without the ITB's. Is this your only car or can you have it down for a while for a swap? I've been looking though that site…nothing much really. Only a couple engines within California. Looking though it now, there's a couple more than I saw earlier so I may try to contact them.

it is my only car, and i sold both my motorcycles when i quit my previous job.

i can deal without a car for a while, because the ops guy at my job lives 2 miles away from me and wants to carpool anyway, but it would take a lot of logistical work- i need a shop or someone who's willing to store it while i collect all the m30 parts and then do the swap, because i can't even change my own oil at my place.

not something i can just say yes to off the bat. let me ask around.

Okay cool, let me know. We could take it to PM's/texts. I'm ordering the stuff to replace my oil pump tomorrow morning. If that doesn't work, I'll be looking to buy another engine ASAP. Even if it does work, the condition of my bearings/rings/such after running it dry for 2+ minutes is questionable. Personally I'd rather just swap it, but Stevens been convincing me to try the pump.

he's probably right. do the pump and then a compression test.

this shit was all Eric's idea, maybe he wants to do the swap for me :P

Yep I'll check it out. I'm ordering a magnetic drain plug with my blunt order so if it does work, I'll do a compression test then check the plug after a few hundred miles. I suppose if those are both clear the engine should be fine.

Stop lagging on buying that thing. It's a steal and you'll be pissed if it's gone.

Your vehicle speed sensor wire (VSS) needs to be connected in the harness. It's not related to the diff sensor.

hey! keep me outa your shitty m42 world. personally i would piss on it and count my self lucky that my feet are faster flintstoning an e30 than an m42.

m42 cars are good for s52 swaps. this is all.

okay apparently Eric hates M42s, but not so much that he wants to make an M42-powered car an M30-powered one.

too bad, LBV, that was our best option :P
