Wanted: Place to work on my car near San Francisco

I'm looking for a place to work on my car. Just small things that can be done in a home garage or driveway. Will need a power outlet for my buffer, I have all my own tools.

From what I've heard that it's a pretty bolt-on mod.

I believe all of the E36 racks are an improvement over the E30 M3 rack.

From what I've heard that it's a pretty bolt-on mod.

Realoem shows that non-airbag and and airbag M3's share the same rack (Part # 32132225556). Should be a bolt in affair. I believe they're 3.5 turns lock to lock, so a bit slower than 3.2 on non-m and 96-99 m3 racks. To be fair, anything is going to be an improvement over a stock e30 rack (combined with fresh tie-rods). E30 m3 racks are fairly pricey though compared to an e36 rack (about $500 or so vs $250). If you get it for a decent price though, then I say go for it.

keep in mind that lock to lock is not the only variable

the rack travel also matters, and IIRC some e36 racks have low LTL but also not a lot of travel, which means they're not as fast as people make them out to be.

Just get a new one, a 20 years old driveshaft is not worth installing.

Why do you say it's not worth installing? I can't really justify spending $800+ on a new driveshaft.

You can get yours rebuilt for a couple hundred. It's definitely not a DIY but it doesn't have to be super expensive either

yes. i will be getting one when i put power steering in my blue car. it's not as good as an e36m rack but it beats stock e30 rack imo.
here's the kicker. the e30m rack is by far the most costly to procure.
