I have a good job making decent money. I don't make 6 figures, but what I make pays the bills. What expenses does a young guy like me have? I pay rent, health insurance, cell phone, internet, etc., put some money into my retirement accounts, and spend the rest on cars. It's not that hard :).

I had an E39 M5 until I sold it a few weeks ago.

Don't forget selling drugs and whoring yourself out, either. Those definitely help with the disposable income. Tax free, too.

PS Polak, Ben's good people. I bought a car and some RS001's from him and he's anything but a rich prick in person. He's got a fetish for nice cars and a BMW Tech for a girlfriend, but I think that's most car guy's dream life when they're 23.

PPS Every time I see you call a car a "whip" I feel like I'm watching an episode of Unique Whips.

he may be good people, but he attacked my character for no good reason. i pay bills too!!! i think we all do, at least most of us with any kind of work ethic and morals. I have yet to launch my career b/c i'm finishing up at ucla in june. i went thru hell and back to do this swap, and that makes it worth more then any car in my books. it's pointless to keep arguing, i'm sure ur a cool guy and all, but u yet to prove it to me.

Listen "Guy", I don't have a damn thing to "prove" to you :).

                A) Your grammar sucks for someone who's going to UCLA. Try to take the time to put together a coherent sentence that's not riddled with teenage abbreviations and you may get a bit more respect.

                B) Let me re-summarize what's wrong with "Running The Canyons". Just because you haven't had an accident out there doesn't make it safe. What don't you get about that? Here are the points I made in a previous post...I believe all you could say was "Yeah, well, it hasn't happened to me so it's not dangerous!!1111"

On public roads, there are always factors you can't control; animals, sand/gravel, THE OTHER DRIVERS, etc.

On a race track all of those things are cancelled out.

What don't you understand about that?

Your attitude is just like that of every other punk kid that thinks he's a hot shit driver and is in total control. One day someone might pull out from a side road right in front of you and in that split second before you t-bone the hell out of their car, the point I'm making will hit home.

I have met Ben as well at SD Auto-x and all I can say is that he is a great guy that sure can drive really well. Seemed like a very nice and respectfull guy.
However, I do not see anything wrong with canyon driving. The Mini club and I do it all the time and we do try to keep it as safe as possible. We just love to enjoy our cars and the scenery and do not race around in the canyons. As long as you keep it safe and enjoy yourself with a couple of friends then it should not be a problem at all. I do understand what Ben is talking about and I also agree that about some certain people. Hence I also think that we are much diffrent then some idiots that think its a freakin race track up there. Just keep it safe and fun.

Ben I will see you at this months Auto-x and hopefully meet you ( e30polak ) at the meet on the 16th.

Thanks for the kind words. I will definitely be at the autocross this month. What's this about a meet on the 16th?

For what it's worth, there's a distinct difference between some kids "Running the Canyons!!1!11" and a club or group of mature people going for a nice drive on twisty roads.

We put this little get together to just snap a few pics and go one a little cruise.

I haven't finished yet doing all the maintence work on my new e30 yet, so I will be bringing my Mini for this one. I myself do enjoy that route when I do not have anything better to do and see plenty of CHP cars patrolling that area. We all should take it very easy and enjoy the drive. This will be my first gettogether to meet some of the e30 folks.
