$8.10 in 1975 is about the same as $33.70 today (2010). Which means that inflation accounts for 58% of the increase of the ticket price if my math is correct. Not the sole reason, but definitely the majority of the reason.Comment

So yes, inflation does account for a good deal of the price increase. That's not really important though, since inflation has affected the prices of everything. The price has obviously increased way faster than inflation alone. Inflation accounts for less than half of the price increase.Comment
