No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.Comment

new fender and bumper courtesy of CO318is:
a seriously poor paint job by the owner before CO318is.
Ya always need Simple Green.
masking (Maaco style)
block sanding:
Sprayed it right there on the lawn... kinda ghetto but that is what happens when one has no access to a paint booth...
fender time!
yay red paint
This is how the car came from PO:
no the fender is not orange. The light I was using and my camera makes it look like that.
And the moulding clips are ordered and should be here next week so I can install the moulding, and then I will strip the pinstriping off the car.
EDIT: ah yes, also i still need to wet sand and buff, but I have to wait a week for the paint to fully cure in this cold-ass weather...Last edited by iamsam; 11-27-2010, 09:45 PM.Comment

so I took the iX up to Steamboat this weekend, I love that car. It is a piece of shit, gets no love, and just keeps going. It did decide that it didn't like power steering when we got up there, but now I have an excuse to join the p/s delete club. In the past I was worried about its fuel economy, cause the seedo doesn't work so I had no idea how far I was going on a tank, but it averaged 27 mpg. I am happy with that and can't wait to go back up and hit the slopes.
And to chime in on the lift ticket thing, it is crazy how much it costs to ski nowadays. The early season price at Steamboat was $78, and only 35% of the mountain was open!
And Sam car looks great, good job!

So if you had a bare set of wheels destined for a summer only car that might occasionally come out in the winter, what tires would you pick? The car WILL be driven in Colorado Springs this February, but is then going to Texas till the summer, then will be in a garage every winter after that until the Jeep dies.
Snow tires? which ones?
Super badass seasons like Continental extremelylongnameconticontact DWS?
For sizing, should I buy the skinniest set possible? I've always had the theory in my head that a skinny tire cuts down to the ground while a fat tire acts like a snowboard and floats above.Comment
