Do you know how to get rid of your power steering leaks for good?

          Step 1. remove ps pump.

          Step 2. drain ps fluid.

          Step 3. profit.

No power steering in an E30 sucks. Fuuuuuck that noise.

It's an easy fix since Brad's already doing an E36 rack swap-- all he needs are new PS lines and reservoir...which isn't expensive.

Some sort of powerflush with a solvent? Not sure?

I left everything in place, I just took the belt off. It's been over a year and the rack is still slowly sending some fluid out. Just enough to help make the bottom of the car awful.

if you drain the rack it makes steering w/ no PS waaaay easier (and it won't leak). And I have had zero problems not having PS in my E30. Of course it is a bit lighter than yours...

NOW, when I do an S50 swap and put in a Z3 rack, I WILL have PS, because of the increased weight, and the decreased steering ratio.

But for a quick and easy fix for your leak now, and since you already removed your ps belt, you may as well drain the rack, it will stop the leaking and steering effort will be much less.

Meh, no PS is just fine. But PS is much better. I did drain the rack, some just still gets though even now.

Driving Ben's and My E30 back to back aggressively pointed out just how much better a PS-equipped car is. So much more pleasant and confidence-inspiring to drive faster when you do have PS. I'm still kicking myself for not installing my spare e30 PS pump when I had the car....I wonder if I still have that.

Yeah, that's a plus. Really I just want it so I can get a MTech II suede steering wheel. With no PS I would destroy the fabric too fast with the force needed to park. I'm just being picky.
