this problem is definitely all off-the-wall shit. As far as "resistance", i am speaking of the engine braking that occurs when you coast in gear, and the engine slows the car naturally. In my case, the engine seems to slow the car twice as hard, and yet, when in neutral, the car coasts fine, so no brake issues. its definitely and engine issue, because of the low and horrible idle, the lack of power, the need to push the gas way farther to get the car to respond, etc. it seems electrical.

Okay, not sure what order of likelihood this would be, but these are what I would check first:

      AFM
      Intake leaks
Ignition stuff (ie one of the cylinders missing would cause very similar symptoms)
-pull the spark plugs and note any difference in wear between them.
-pull off dizzy cap and look for uneven wear, burning, cracking etc
      -ohm out the ignition wires

Also Fuel pump, filter or FPR could cause similar things.

      Good luck!

        thanks!

just drove the car tonight. Absolutely perfect. nothing wrong. it totally annoying. I hope it stays this way, because it would suck if my car decided to be retarded as soon as I get down to autocross.

Yeah that would suck.... Cars are like girls man... Just when you think you have em running happy and smooth, they get all shaky and freak out about something small that you have no clue what it is... Then they're fine.

On another note, it's stupid to hear / say, but cars have ghosts in em.. gremlins if you will.... Both my subarus would run like a champ, then have a weird hiccup I couldn't track down or explain. I was driving my girlfriends 07 VW a couple months ago, running fine driving in Fort Collins, then no joke the car just dies. No hiccup in the electronics when it happened, music didn't skip or anything. I was driving, then had no throttle, no ABS / power brakes or power steering. Managed to pull off the road safely, killed it and started it again, car ran fine.

PM me for detailing services in the Longmont / Boulder Area in Colorado!

            ha ha good analogy!

yeah I am hoping it was just a stupid electrical connection that wiggled itself back into place, or a gummed up AFM or something like that with the cold...

I read on pelican when your steam cleaning if water gets in the coil I believe it was it has to dry out and until it does so it can cuase wierd driving effects

The event was fun. Diego, Robin and myself went down and met up with some other guys. It was pretty fun and started snowing just after the last run of the last heat. lol. Ohh and Robin took 2nd in her class.

                            So back on topic...

My best time of the day was a 52.466 in fun-runs, Mayfield drove my car and put down a 47.xxx +6 LOL. Just goes to show me how much more I have to go with my driver's education...:(

The event was great, it was good to see those of you that showed, and while I understand that some of you guys couldn't make it due to more important things going on, you really missed out. World Arena is still a really fun site (albeit a bit dirty this time). I really wish I could have ran it when it was still full sized.

Dude, nice going! +5 from Mayfield's not bad at all.

You're coming down for the timing belt shenanigans and the meet, ya? Come bowl with us after!

He coned (clipped them barely) 6 times that run though. Still could have had a 47, but he was in EVO mode, and when you don't have AWD to power out of shit, you clip shit. He probably could have made the car do a 46 if he had time to set it up a bit better.

It's possible... no promises yet though.
