So I decided to tackle a power steering leak...

So I dropped the engine shielding:

and there is my PS pump, and yes, that zip tie is pink:

Started unbolting shit, and out came the pump:

So that meant that the reservoir had to come out:

pulled out all the PS lines, including the ones from the rack, and rigged up something high tech to plug the rack:

And there is about 30 lbs of crap I pulled out. (AC bracket on the left there that got left on the engine after the AC delete):

No more power steering leak!! No more power steering!!

next up: my coolant leak. (just kidding!!)

now my car is even lighter, and I gained like 1.5 precious horsepower!

And btw, i drained the rack by turning lock to lock to pump the fluid out, and it is WAY easier to steer with an empty rack where I am not pushing fluid around.

No one makes this car anymore. The government won't allow them, normal people won't buy them. So it's up to us: the freaks, the weirdos, the informed. To buy them, to appreciate them, and most importantly, to drive them.

I'd wanna drive a car before deciding to ditch my PS. I love it, I have a leak, but it's nothing to make me wanna yank the whole system... When I was pulling your car in and out of the garage David, it was kind of a pain... I'd wanna drive one and actually see what it's like. I'm keeping my ABS though ;)

                nice dude!
at first when I read the thread title I was like "oh no.....he's actually going to fix it" but then I relieved (when i saw the delete)

                sweeet!

I mean, it's KINDA hard to turn at anything under 3mph, but after one day you get used to it. I bought the car with busted PS, so I actually had no idea what PS was like until i got the vert two months ago.
.....and it has since been deleted as well!

edit: also, it makes under hood stuff WAY easier. alternator, starter, you name it, the xtra space is awesome.

Ya, under about 5mph it sucks major donkey dick, but above that it gives great feedback. You still need to drive mine to see how you like the cat + borla sound.....I miss the cat delete pipe already.

Good call on abs, I need mine to work!

Lemme know when I can drive it... My recent situation puts a damper on things, but I'd still like to drive and see.

sure thing. It's supposed to snow again this weekend, so it might be a while.

Hmmmm, I kinda feel like doing this now. So is there no fluid in the actual PS rack now? I could actually look how the PS rack system works but meh...

I'd be careful taking all the fluid out of the rack, as it also is used to lubricate the mechanisms. Just a thought.

Yeah, I guess what I would do is put the lines from the reservoir directly to the rack. Mine is leaky, that way I can keep filling it up. Anyone know if those lines will bolt right up or do I need to make some adapters? I can't tell from those pictures.
