the solution is to trade cars with me.
if that doesn't work, then use a box-end wrench.FS: assault gear....Originally posted by stoliver54Aw, balls.

I had the rack all the way down to just the tie-rods and steering knuckle. I tried the crescent and then tried the socket again still no bueno realizing thatI would prob fubar something due to frustration, I broke down to finally getting the box wrench. Just to think that when I had the right tool it would have taken all of two and a half minutes... fml. Now I have to try and get the input shaft re-attached to the steering column inside the car... !&#(!#( that is a task that I will tackle in the morning due to frustration, and needing help trying to get the rack back in place and trying to get it reconnected, and to read up and see if there is any tips on here that will make my life easier.
Thanks guys, should have waited for the responses.

Yeah I was up that late/early. I got it all back together but the damn rack would not go in place without me having to take the column apart but once I did it went right to where it needed to. The steering is soooo much lighter now and it doesn't even feel like i have manual steering now. I kinda liked the heavier feel before I removed the fluid but I know when I do a track day it will be nicer for longer. Thanks for the help guys.

So, things I wanna try before doing myself (need to find some locals willing to let me drive their cars)..

I have large tires and dying PS if that counts...but I think that you have driven it with my summers on. And are you looking for an S50'd E30 or just an S50?89 325i (Sold)

Well I wanna get a ride in Sean's car. It's an s50 e30, but I know how yours feels. All that mess on facebook might be instantly decided after riding / driving that car (I doubt he'll let me drive it). As for PS, I'd prefer another e30 lol so I can feel as close to what an e30 w/ wide tires sans PS would feel like
