Ya the sealant also helps hold the gasket in place as you line it up. Done that on all my cars with success so far. Are you sure its from the pump though? I had a situation where I thought it was the pump but it was a hose right next to it.
haha well i checked again, and its the hose running from the coolant res. to the waterpump. its leaking right where the hose connects to the waterpump....i assume i have to just get a new hose? cause it leaks about 1-2 drops every 5-10 seconds

Exact same hose as I had a problem with. I just tightened the clamp.

i already did, and it seems like its just having a really really slow leak? i dont get it. i even moved the clamp up a little on the hose (granted coolant split out even more) and that didnt do the trick either...

they sell like goo/grease for coolant lines to help seal them up on the hard sides
