How many of you have been stuck behind a Prius going 5 under in the left lane?

Every fucking day in Portland. And yes, I have driven one. Got it down to 7 mpg avg

My friend had two, and always averaged about 32mpg in it, because he drove it like a hoon. So you're buying a car that is worse for the environment during manufacturing, and then you aren't offsetting that by getting respectable (or advertised) mileage.

You're not a developer of any sort are you? There isn't a week that goes by that I don't get someone asking me if I know any available devs.

Don't let age get in the way, I had three years of programming under my belt by then. Not saying dev is for you, but if you want to do something drop a google and learn the hell out of it. There has never been a generation more able to decide their own direction than you kids.

So your saying you know openings for Developers without College credentials? Ive done basically a Year of CSS/HTML4/5 and im currently in a C#/C++ etc class.

I got a job working on OSX Server at Apple with precisely 1.5 Java classes and 1 webdev class under my belt. The great thing about webdev (vs many other college majors) is that all that matters is what you've made in school or out and that distribution is free. Make a cool demo, link it to some blogs and if it gets traction you'll probably get an offer somewhere.

The guy who made splittherent.org did so while taking a year off from Yale (he was 20 at the time) and moving to Seattle just to see what happened. He rented a room with my friends and I for the year and just sat on the couch doing his own thing. That little site is his full time job.

His only credentials are:
1) Made a version of the iPad interface using HTML/CSS
2) Made a little HTML5 sketching webapp.
3) Played a lot of MarioKart.
4) Wasn't a jerk.

I wrote a little tool to see every photo being uploaded to twitter in realtime for desktop/mobile using basic webdev skills and a month later got a contract to write the battery-drain test for the blog site The Verge. A month later I'm handling all mobile ads for ESPN and 6 months later building it's next generation ad delivery system.

You just have to make something cool.

Ahh Unfortunately I'm not even out of high school yet haha, If I was out I'd email you in a minute. No College classes were taken, I've just taken the high school courses and gone overboard on my own way and made a few simple sites and helped others with theirs. C#/C++ are somewhat amusing but the learning pace of the class is slow and I might go off on my own again if I get the time.
