Let's get specific. Name off some choice cars you'd be caught driving on the daily CUMmute.

My needs:

Good MPGs
Automatic
Budget would be less around 2k for a budget commuter. Need ideas! Not concerned with brands really.

90-93 honda accord. dirt cheap. ultra reliable. i just drove to utah and back in one, over 1250miles, without a hitch on a car with the original motor and trans with over 320k miles. mines a 5-speed but the autos get comparable mileage. the autos have issues so make sure maintenance has been kept up and it should be solid.

E36 or E34 are excellent daily driver. I love my E34 525i manual, but had a few E36 325i manual cars and they were great. Just the right amount of power for a daily and comfy, too. Also, people practically give away the automatic cars, so...

Lol your budget. I dailyed a 240dl wagon for years, wasnt bad. Roughly 24-26mpg

currently daily e36 m3, 25-27mpg, the volvo never needed repairs.

volvo 240s are stupid reliable and cheap

I drive a 2006 tdi golf bough it with a bad turbo. New turbo lots of good!!

They still have rust issues, which is pretty sad for cars made in 2004 and newer.

How about a 318i 4 door for $2,000? New head gasket, fairly straight but nothing you'd worry about bumping into something during the snow months.

Just a thought ;)
