If I pull the head on my new engine and do a headgasket, should I get it decked?

Its about $30-$50 to get it done correct? Ive heard for an extra $20 some shops will even hot tank ti for you?

If you're pulling the head for shits and giggles, it's a good idea, but not required. If you're pulling the head because it blew a headgasket, you'd be a fool not to have the head decked.

Turns out the original engine I had lined up is a no go... so if you have a sweet m20b25 laying around hit me up. $500 budget. Looking for low miles and good compression obviously

If you change your head gasket and cheap out and not do a fucking $35 head surface, I will drive the 3 and a half hours up there and slap you. Not trying to be a dick, but it's absolutely silly not to do it while the head's off the block.
