hey guys and gals. new to this part of R3v. just wondering if anyone has dealt with the local M and M paint shops/people. if so what can you tell me about quality? looking to pick up some lachs metallic in an aerosol can for some touch up. thanks.
If the transmission and starter are connected you can jump the starter and get a compression test.
An ever better test is a cylinder leak-down test, that is the best way to test an engine. I just bought a leak down tester to use once, OTC for $80. Probably gonna resell right away.
My coworkers have leak down testers I could barrow. Is this the way to test condition of an engine with it out of the car? The engine is just that, no trans.
Leak down tests are kinda tough as well as the engine is cold so it is hard to get valves to seat all the way, what I do is when you have air running through the piston take a hammer and a screw driver or something and smack the top of the springs to get the valves to clear any crap from under them...
I just did the M52 I got, 2% leakage in all 6 cylinders... Followed by a happy dance, haha.
