I'm confused. Did you get the bushing pressed into the lollipop now you can't get the lollipop onto the control arm?
You can search, I've made a thread describing a tool I made from the hardware store... although my second time doing the job (e36) I just paid the same shop that pressed the CAB into the lollipop to press the lollipop onto the CA. Much easier, not that expensive.
They are such a b**** to install. Some people say they have luck with using dish soap. I some how constructed a tool with a spring compressor to pull it on. The easiest way is definitely the install tool. Possibly some rental tool from o'reillys could work??
sorry, my post wasnt clear in the heat of the moment...
I have e30 m3 replacement lollipops, complete, so i dont have to push the bushings in, I just cant get my all new ones to go back onto my control arms.
It looks like I need a custom "pusher" tool or something. does anyone have one?
I froze the bushings overnight. Torched the lollipops, lubed the bushings hammered them in w/ a big hammer and a piece of wood on top.
If you're talking about installing them onto control arm do the same. Torch the tip of control arm, lube inside of bushing with dish soap. Then lay under the car on your back and use leg power while somebody is holding the lollipop.
Just make sure you're hammering them on straight because it is hard getting them on there straight.
Also, if freezing the bushings don't work try putting them in hot water. That should loosen them up.
You use this word "tap"... I think you mean harness the intensity of a thousand dessert suns.
I really think I need to rent the pushing tool. I have tried putting the lollipops in hot water, using soap, hairspray, by foot, my arms, a hammer... I can get it 3/4 of the way through but then it pushes its self back off.
Some of them are nearly impossible and won't "tap" on. Search my thread and you'll see the tool I made for cheap from ACE. It worked just fine.
I still stand by paying ~15 to just have someone else do it and be done with it. I know they are supposed to sit and rest on the car within a certain amt of time of being onto the control arm but I wasn't really able to do that...
grab a little sand paper and just sand the tips of the control arms to smooth any imperfections. You might have to do the same on the bushings if they are used. Then with soap and water it will help.
