Guess I should have posted here:
Running 16x9 Borbet Ts (et15) with 215/40 R16 tires.
10mm spacer on front
20mm spacer on rear
AGRESSIVELY LOWERED.
I'm about to fix the rear geometry by replacing my subframe with one that has the toe/camber kit welded on. I want to get a little more life out of my tires, so I'll probably fix the camber a bit. I'm afraid that if I do that, the 20 mm spacer will be too much and I will have some fender interference (already rolled). There is some interference already when really loaded up, but that's not very often.
So my question is: What size spacer should I get? Is it as simple as taking 5mm out and I'll have that much more clearance? Or is that enough? I keep meaning to look under the car and see how much room I have on the inside, don't want to clear interference one way, and start some the other... (How much of a spacer do I NEED on the rear to run the 16x9 et15s?) If I have a smaller spacer, could I maybe have more tire in the rear? Not crazy about running staggered, but it would be fun to try for a bit, I think.
I'm going to get custom spacers made (again) so I want to know what to tell Fred.

If one were to run 16x9 wheels. (offset not sure but maybe 20), would 195/50/16 tires fit to give it a stretched look or would it not be wide enough to fit? My friend ordered some 16x9 wheels and wants a stretched look. I have 16x7 remembers with 195/50 and looking to get rid of them for some 205s or 215s so my friend may buy my current tires off of me if they fit. Thanks

I have exactly the same setup as you mutty -- 17" BBS RCs w/ET35 and a 10mm H&R spacer -- and my 215/40/R17 Michelin PE2s fit perfectly on H&R/Bilstein Sports. No rolling. I do however seem to have a bit of fender gap (about the size of a man's fist) in the front. The rears however have no issues. Sorry I've got no pics, I'll see if I can snap a pic if you want one though.
I tried to fit them without spacers as a test, they rubbed in the front without the spacers.

Your rear wheel will actually clear the inside without any spacer at all by over a cm. You can back down the spacer to any size you want, or even none at all.
Even with no spacer, I still recommend 215/40 as the widest, unless there is some moderate/heavy fender work in the cars.

That said, I know I've seen it done by another member on here (245s on a 17x7.5). I still can't recommend it though, that's some serious "over-tiring".
