Gosh, I can't imagine attempting this job while sitting in the car! Y'all better not! The white plastic connector with the white & yellow wires was very hard to pull apart. I ended up using two pairs of pliers to pull that one apart but that was the only obstacle. Well, other than the anti-theft screws...I got a $9 kit from Amazon that had the pentagon-shaped tool.

Display+ is not in car installable for sure. If you’re very careful the BA2 and the new BT boards themselves could be, but you’re risking losing screws and small parts.

Please share a link with your listing. Jay and I have been trying to source another run of the anti-theft screwdriver without luck so far.

We are still hunting for a new manufacturer, but good to know we can point folks in this direction. Once those security screws are stripped you can't fix them, and you risk damaging your faceplate.

Wanted to give an update on the new BA31 board. I am coming from a BA2 board. I didnt reallly need to upgrade but my internal amp in the 5908 was giving me all sorts of issues with fade outs and missing channels sometimes. I sent to Brad to refurbish the amp. He noticed that someone had hacked it up when trying to refurb before so he fixed my board and cleaned it up. I liked the idea of the new screen but you cant get it without the BA31. I was hesitant because I know on paper the BA31 was better, cleaner, upgradable etc, but did I really care that much. So I took my

Well I am glad I did, first off the screen makes things so much easier, I love the scrolling text and its so much brighter. Then there is the sound. Since my car is a resto mod I wanted to keep my wiring stock hence the 5908. I have all brand new BMW premium speakers and they sounded ok, nothing that will blow you away, but decent. This was with my radio now in peak condition from a refurb and still having the BA2 in it.

Well, I know the BA31 was cleaner with BT but man it's a night and day difference between the two. I could crank the music up way louder and there is zero distortion, I seem to be getting better bass response as sell. If you spent all the money on a BA2 I get it's hard to swallow spending more on the BA31, but it definitely is better, and I am glad I did. If you dont have either its a must!

Last pic was taken while it was scrolling so its a bit blurry.

Thanks Staszek! Yeah the new Cantaloupe Radio BT kits have incredibly clean sound, no other way to describe it. You can also as you said crank the volume up quite a bit higher with BT.

2 5908s, 2 5907s and 2 blaupunkt trunk amps available next weekend for NC E30 Oktoberfest at VIR next weekend. https://nce30.org

Refurbished with a 1 year no BS warranty
                      • 5907 or 5908 price is $380
                      • Amps are $175
                      • I'll offer you core credit for your existing 5907, 5908 or trunk amp as well to offset costs.
                      • All prices are plus shipping and a $2.50-8.00 partial PayPal fee
So.. is $380 expensive? Can't you get a 5907 or 5908 radio on eBay for less?

eBay 5907 or 5908 radios come in two categories:
                      - untested radios pulled from a car, requiring service. Many have been worked on before and have faceplate damage from removal
                      - super high dollar radios costing anywhere from $450-$700, usually with some sort of BT upgrade.

servicing a 5907 or 5908 costs money - anywhere from $200-350 depending on who you talk to (don’t believe me? Contact doctordons.com or radioman in San Diego). You can try to fix it yourself, but very few folks have the right kind of tools to do that. It's not just grabbing a soldering iron and going to town. you also can't just swap the caps out. that works 2-3 times out of 10 and you run a huge risk of damaging the circuit board.

$380 gets you a fully functional rebuilt radio with a 1 year no BS warranty and my personalized support for your car install. That's a STEAL.

Lots going on! Been working through order backlog, new product development and year end accounting (believe it or not). Lots of great stuff on the way:

                              1) Amp+ is imminent. Expect news from Cantaloupe Radio soon. High power for the 4 existing channels, pre-outs and sub-out, and insanely clean sound

                              2) For those not going 5908, or skipping Amp+, I finally have a no-cut amp bypass harness solution for cars with BMW Sound System. Comes with the bypass harness and equipment pigtails. You can run any combination you like of line output converters, existing trunk amp or 4 channel amp, sub amp or powered sub. You can even change the configuration at any point without cutting anything.

                              More info: https://oemhifi.com/products/quadrob...bypass-harness

                              3) I released wiring and spacer adapters for the Focal 130AS component speaker system. This lets you upgrade existing premium sound speakers, front and rear in a coupe or sedan, front in a convertible. You can also run coaxial Focal ACX130 speakers in the rear on convertibles.

                              4) I have been working to expand the radio models I will be servicing include the C43, BE774, BE728 and BE729. Additional models are also on the list. more news coming on this.
