    Squared Motorwerks Feedback!

Let me know how everything worked out! I ship stuff out and never know if anyone is happy or not lol.

I just got around to installing these on a set of Bosch Euro Smileys last week. For the sake of honesty I was let down at the quality of the mounts and the Morimoto kit. Beyond the outlined modifications needed, there are still several modifications to be made as you work through the install. But with the mounts themselves, I had to cut away material from the opening to allow clearance for the M4x10 bolts. I had to cut down length on the longer #8 mounting screws, as they were bottoming out before the adapter was fully seated against the headlight bucket. I also had to clearance one of the mounting holes for the mount to housing as it wasnt centered. And if I had realized the overall mounting method compromises cutoff pattern, I wouldn't have ordered. But that's just lack of research and impulse buying on my part.
Hate to be "that guy" but I expected more from this kit. With rapid prototyping as a resource, I feel as if the amount of modifications to the projector and housing should have been minimal.
If I could do it again I'd figure out a way to retrofit the old fashioned way with nice OEM parts. It's my first time dealing with Morimoto, I was not impressed. As I said before. Modifications were needed with that kit as well.

First off, sorry you had so many issues. I appreciate the honest feedback. I'm going to comment on a few things.

When I made these I had a few goals in mind:
      • Minimal modification required
      • Waterproof (as much as possible)
      • Factory looking projector position

Since the design of the Bosch mounts, which are the oldest of my designs, I've learned a few things. If you were to put the later US and Euro Hella mounts next to my Bosch mounts you could see these differences, especially in the design of the print.

But with the mounts themselves, I had to cut away material from the opening to allow clearance for the M4x10 bolts.
Morimorto has tweaked their reflector castings slightly over the last year so that the alignment of the screw holes has shifted ~1.4mm. I never updated this as some people may get their hands on old stock depending on where they order their projectors from. Worst case such as yours you have to trim some plastic from the edges.

I had to cut down length on the longer #8 mounting screws, as they were bottoming out before the adapter was fully seated against the headlight bucket.
I’ve only had one report other than yours of this so far out of the 42 sets of the Bosch version I’ve sold. That person emailed me and to the best of my knowledge he went to #8x1” screws instead. I have multiple buckets that I modeled off of and the only conclusion I can come to is slight production differences in hole depth over the years to account for this.

I also had to clearance one of the mounting holes for the mount to housing as it wasnt centered.
More than likely what happened here is the reflector had some extra castings on the side that weren’t ground away during production. The tolerances on the inside diameter of the mount are very tight so that the mount forces the alignment of the reflector (and the eventual projector) to be centered. This more than likely contributed to worsening your M4 screw alignment issue.

And if I had realized the overall mounting method compromises cutoff pattern, I wouldn't have ordered
This was a design compromise on my part. While thin metal centers are ideal, getting those made are expensive, hence the thick plastic with the current mount. Version 2 that I’m currently working on fixes this issue as it’s only .4mm thick compared to the 2mm of the current ones. Yes this distorts the cutoff a little, but the effect to the light output is minimal.

I feel as if the amount of modifications to the projector and housing should have been minimal.
Again a design compromise. I’m working around and with what’s available. In comparison to what others do to retrofit FX-R or D2S projectors into these lights this is minimal. If BMW had spec’d the buckets to be slightly larger in diameter you wouldn't have to grind away the inside lips.

In the end I want you to be happy with the setup. Shoot me a PM and I'll see what I can do to make this happen.

Posted the same on the product page, but wanted to put it here too because I am very happy with the transaction and product.

I wanted to provide some feedback after installing my set.

        Bottom line: awesome product.

I read some other user's reviews and noted the "drawback" (if you can even call it one) that the lense gets spaced a few mm from the bulb; the difference is totally negligent IMO and shouldn't be a concern whatsoever. Quality of the parts is top notch. Packaging was great too. Seller was responsive and the items arrived exactly within the time frame that was stated/posted. I couldn't be happier. Installation was completely intuitive and problem free.

The results speak for themselves. I have done a DIY retrofit for my e36 a few years back before people started making brackets etc and the price of this bracket is WELL WORTH not having to DIY a retrofit.

Thanks OP for an awesome product!

Mid October I started talking to the OP about buying some of his HID retrofits and to send my lights to him to do the retrofit and he was very responsive and helpful. I wasn't able to pay right away but he said that wasn't a problem. Then I bought the product and emailed him asking for the proper address to send my lights to and I got no response. I sent a few more emails over the next few weeks and still no response. Then I randomly received a refund a few weeks ago even though I never requested one. I asked for an explanation of everything and like the emails before I still haven't gotten a response. I'm happy that I at least have my money back, but I hate when someone produces a product or offers a service and there is no communication.

Ordered a complete retrofit kit on 12/10 from Squared.

No communication since. No email or PM response. Bueller?!

I would not recommend anyone place an order until this is cleared up.

Hope nothing happened to him. He was great with my setup, built the adapters and even mounted them in the housings for me.

Just found this thread, his website looks like it was updated in 2019. But I am now waiting on a PayPal dispute to get my money back as I have not received any shipping info & he will not respond to emails.

Update, I received my order today. Jt did overnight my shipment once he was made aware of the issue.

Same problems here, ordered months ago and no response to multiple emails. Not sure what other options there are out there to get these parts - any alternatives?

I have the depo version (I believe fits the Hella) which I never installed. Can have them printed locally if anyone is interested.

YES PLEASE! Aslong as materials are correct and they are spec'd correctly.

I still haven't herd back from Squared....
