Mine passed a few years ago no problem with 24# inj, 540 MAF, e30 cat. No more sniff tests in MA as of last fall, though. Yippee.

What chip do you have? I have to pass the sniffer test.

There is no reason you can't pass emissions with the mods you want on your car, you just need to have it running well, have a good cat, and have a tune for the mods.
I was the one that emailed you. The mod's I have on my car are S52 OBD 1, 24lb injectors 3.5 inch MAF, LTW flywheel, K&N air filter, OBD 2 exhaust manifolds, Brand New One mo. Old Magnaflow CAT. Brand new 02 Sensor, 74* T-Stat.

Pre-tested my car at work before i went to the CA Bureau Of Automotive Repair (BAR).

Only thing I did differant for the 2nd test was replace my iridium sparks plugs with stock copper ones. Fresh Oil change, And put a bottle of Clean Power in my tank. Clean power is mostly Toluene so i think is just raises the octane rating.

Do you think I should run the stock 80* T-stat?

Also thinking of going back to a 3 inch MAF and 17 lb injectors.

Try a bottle of HEET next time, and see if you can get them to run the 15mph test in a lower gear. You are really close.

Did you warm up your cat really well the second time?

Edit: Are you running a 3.5" MAF and 24s with a stock chip? If so... go back to stock MAF and injectors.

Did you warm up your cat really well? Your results look like an inefficient cat.

Don't fuck with your MAF and injectors unless you change the chip also.

I need a new chip for the sliver label 413 that has the 95 M3 vin on it. I'm telling them the motor is from a 95 M3 so I don't have to run all the obd 2 stuff. I did warm my cat before the test.

                      What about a warmer t-stat?

Might help a little, depends on how that chip is programmed.

If you're in warm-up mode at that temp, you're getting a rich mixture (High HCs) and possibly advanced timing (high NOx)

I was searching for cats today and saw a bunch of '49-state' units and some that were 'CARB Approved'. I think CA still has more stringent (and getting more so every day) emission control parameters than any other state.

Is there a certain model from MagnaFlow that all y'all like for an OBDI S52? This one is $154
