Dont need to rewire the car or use another engines wiring. You just need to make an adapter harness that plugs into x60004/x6011/x6012 on one end and c101/Drive-by-wire pedal/solid state fuel relay/sport button/etc.. Then you need to do some trickery with the ECU.
you will not have a CEL but you will have an OBD2 port for diagnosis... it may be possible to use the newer CAN OBD protocol but I havnt tried too hard yet. Vanos works, DBW works, sport button works. You can delete the cats and the MAF if you want... it really opens the engine up. This of course means you can run the engine without the intake manifold on ;)e30sport.net

A buddy of mine has an S54 swap in his E36 that has the same done to it. One of the interesting problems he's having is that you can't run a VANOS test without clearing all the fault codes, and the setup you're describing left him with a non-resolvable DSC CEL code.
So, no, that setup isn't necessarily viable in the long term.1987 BMW 325is | Frankenmotor S50 | Supersprint Replica Headers | K&N Intake | Gutted Stock Midpipe | Zimmermann Rotors | Stainless Brake Lines | Porterfield Racing Pads

Or get a cable bell crank conversion for $150.

Dude. How complicated can the signal the DSC is sending the DME be. I'm pretty sure the DSC is doing a lot of the heavy work work of distributing brake pressure and determining what the individual wheel speed sensors is. It probably modulates power by pulsing a squarewave signal sent to the DME.
What is the best way to tap into that signal? Maybe some needle-like scope probes?

I have info on that if anyone wants it.

HOWEVER I would be interested with a PNP setup for the S54...
