I love that setup, I want one! I'll PM Castros about it. How do you like it?

EDIT: I just saw that the last post to your thread and to the E30polak FS thread was in 2010. Does anyone know if they still make this? I sent both E30polak and Castros a PM, but I havent gotten any response.

Try unscrewing the front tube and front cover but leave the carbon fiber shield. Also remove your headlight cover. I found that my car had improved response, felt faster, and had a deeper sound. Try it and let me know.

If ka motors made a 3.5in intake, I would buy it and not use the front cover and tube.
I'm actually probably going to remove that front cover and shorten the CF tube by about an inch. I don't know if I got a different intake boot than most other people do, but it seems really long, and the end of the Kamotors intake is right up against my core support, where the headlights mount. There's pretty much no where for any air to go into at all.

Thanks for the input guys, I ended up ordering an airbox from Castros. I will post back here once it is installed with my opinion of it.

i made a heatshield for my car a few weeks ago. the design doesnt seem to be too different from the castros one. im sure youll be happy with your purchase as it looks like they make a quality product. on my own car the shield seemed to help smooth out the power, and as its been getting hotter this past week i havent been noticing the huge power drop i used to get when the temps went up

That's 100% pure snake oil. Why would the clocking matter? How does a MAF operate?

I am running a 3.5" maf and samco intake boot with ITG filter.

Tight on space for sure. I cut the intake boot in half and used the non throttle body side for mounting my filter to the maf. Definitely need some sort of heat shield though.

What is it that they say is better? Is it dyno proven HP / TQ, better throttle response, better fuel economy... Basically how do they quantify that it is better?

Do you have any pictures? I already bought an intake, but I'd still love to see some pics.

                    Here you go

I will ultimately shorten the filter side of the samco boot I cut and then add a heat shield.

Very nice intake, it needs a heat shield though. Can you comment at all on the Samco boot? I looked at buying it, but couldn't find enough evidence to prove to me that that little piece was worth the $70 or $80 that it sells for. Any input on it positive or negative? Is it worth the price for whatever benefits it gives in your opinion?

Smooths out airflow - otherwise it's just a mod :D

I don't like the price, and could not argue the benefits either way.

Heat shield is coming, no doubt!

                          True and false lol
It depends on the intake setup to where its clocked but yes it matters. You basically want it so the actual element is sensing the smoothest airflow.
