    OBD2 S50 up and running!

As many of you know i hate OBD1 and i hate when people OBD1 convert a OBD2 S52/M52. So i went as far as to for no other reason than its awesome and so less annoying in so many ways upconverted this customers S50 to run OBD2. And look at the result! 2nd one in existence that i know of

    1st try starting it:

    Pictars:

Proper ECU setup, Proper Brake Booster Setup, and Correct Trans/Diff setup=Perfection.

    Specs:
    91 318is
Rebuilt Top End, New HG, etc 3L S50
OBD2: Knock,Cam, Euro Crank, MMW rethreaded IAT in the manifold, HFM sensors
Eric M50 Manifold Conversion Kit with MMW welded dipstick running fully functional OBD2 cyclone separator.
    OBD1 Intake Manifold, OBD1 TB
Welded OBD2 Headers, Dual Primary O2 sensors
    OBD2 VC/Coils
Resurfaced S52 FW with new clutch kit. S52 Clutch Slave
    ZF320 w/ stock shift linkage
E34 V8 booster/25mm MC setup with MC mounted Res.
    2.93LSD
    E36 Non M rack
    MMW OBD2 Conversion Harness
M3 harness covers, 318 ECU mount
Markert motor works Flashed S52 ECU for the S50, 7200 limiter
    Rebuilt Vanos Unit
MMW conversion AC lines running R134
MMW motor mounts: No shims, factory motor orientation
    Mishi Radiator

As far as MPGs and stuff go, i only get the car for ~100 miles (assuming there's no issues that warrant me running it longer, which i don't expect) so i wont know much about that but ill get the owner on here to share his thoughts.

    Congrats!

That makes you the 3rd person in the country do this swap.

    What ECU are you using?

    MS41.1 S52 or M52?
    Past Car : E30 S50 6 Speed 5 Lug 3.73
Current : Z3 S50 OBD2 (Smog Legal) 6 Speed BBS RN Dual Ear Diff

We need more documentation on this stuff. Like MPG increase, torque change, horsepower change,

        How does it feel Dave?

I was actually the 2nd. Lol.

We should do a partner dyno session with an M41.1 M52 tune vs an S52 tune.

The M52 tune has more timing but runs the LTFT @ 7%.

If that tune works out well, I will send my ECU and some cash to TT.

            I have had my S50 in my E36 M, and E30 and now a Z.

            I ran an M50 intake on the E36, E30, and Z.

I run an M52 intake now.

I get 27MPG cruising, 22/21 screwing around. Its an MS41.1 tune for the M52.

For putting around I prefer the M52 intake.

I've been debating keeping the S52 intake on my engine or swapping in the M50 intake. It definitely be less work keeping the S52 intake on, and it'd be mostly a street car, very rarely driven at the track. Does it help booster clearance or anything using the S52 intake?

Looking good, Dave. How did you mount the diagnostics port, got a close up of that corner of the bay?

What's the scoop on that booster? Does it bolt directly to the firewall? Are the master cylinder studs at 3 and 6 oclock or are they diagonal?

OK, I think I checked it out, the firewall needs to be drilled to fit, but it should fit in place of my iX booster, will use the iX master, doesn't have to have the rod shortened and is the same size as the iX. AMIRITE?
