24v - Vibrant muffler = Me not happy

It is not amplifying the sound. It is harder to damp the sound as efficiently. By sizing pipe smaller, you make it easier to quiet down an exhaust system from a geometry standpoint--that is, the smaller the piping is, the easier it is to quiet down a system by using smaller mufflers/resonators. So if you have a 3" exhaust, you must choose larger mufflers.

What I meant to say, just came out wrong. The larger piping is still a large part of the reason for it being louder.

Funny I have Ireland engineering shorties > y pipe > magnaflow cat > 22" resonator > vibrant stealth muffler. I love it not raspy at all no highway drone and goes from deep growl low rpms to a nice sound at high rpms. I have single 2.5 inch piping.

In bold is part of your loudness problem. No need for 3" piping on an NA motor. It's actually amplifying the sound.


It was done at the same shop here in Bend that does all of my PC work. I don't know the temp specs, I could probably find out. I considered JetHot, but the shipping hassles turned me off. It was much easier to find a place locally. Cost was about $14/ft.

This. When I initially switched to single 2.5" I put a 14" Glasspack, straight to the Vibrant, and it was MUCH louder then my dual muffler set-up. I left it like that for a week before putting the Borla in the middle.

Just thought I'd bump this.

Put the Borla ProXs to Vibrant street power on my car last night. 2.5 inch diameter. S50 .

It sounds so glorious , but it is loud. Not alot of droning. But it's loud .itll be a cop magnet if your not careful.

Is it very common for 24v to have two mufflers inline instead of a res or cat before?

I just ordered some parts for my S52 the other day.

From the headers back I'm going with no cats and 2.5 in piping....
