Got it, that's what I was thinking but wasn't 100% sure. I'll stick with the plastic and spray the cover silver for the BAR peeps lol
Today was a good day

I just realized that it looks like i also need to source a vanos solenoid? Who can tell me if any 93-95 will work or if I have to get one specific to m52?
Thanks Robert for the coils!
obd1 fuel rail
Got my manifold/tb/coils and had to test fit the manifold of course.
obd1 tb
I take it this sensor will stay in place but not plug into anything or is there a plug I can buy to replace it with?

Two questions.
Instead of drilling into the head can I use this instead with obd1 engine harness?

Another thing to order

The little harness deal won't work. I thought it would, but it was pointed out that it won't work with the e30 cluster.
You don't need to order that pipe deal-unless you're set on using the obd1 coolant spider hose. You can use the metal pipe just fine, but you'll have to cut the obd1 wire harness bracket a little bit to fit.
You can also get an obd1 timing case cover and it'll have that pipe already on.Comment

More information on exactly why that adapter won't work with e30 cluster?
I sent turnet an email to confirm.
I am set on using the obd1 coolant hoses since I have to order them anyway.Last edited by Jean; 08-08-2008, 05:24 PM.Mtech1 v8 build thread - https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=413205

NO!! Use the OBDII metal hose. It is SOO much less headache to use it than to pull it out and replace it with the little nipple that the OBDI timing cover has.My 2.9L Build!

What's exactly is the difference between M50 and M52 vanos solenoids? If I am going to run OBD1 vanos harness do I need to make sure I also use an m50 solenoid, will the m52 solenoid not work?

Yes, we have used this in E30 conversions many times.

Hello,
I have a 98 m52 engine that I am converting to OBD1 and then installing into an E30. Will this adapter work with an OBD1 engine harness
In an e30 chassis with e30 cluster?
Thank you.Mtech1 v8 build thread - https://www.r3vlimited.com/board/sho...d.php?t=413205

+1 I bought it and it didn't work.
Have the machine shop drill and tap the head when you have it off the motor. There is a boss for it.Comment

Removed the e36 pan and test fitted e34 pan and s50 valve cover. Need to order correct oil pick-up, dipstick and tube, and possibly new oil pump.
I noticed obd1 valve cover can't use obd2 style gaskets around the ignition/spark plug holes. So I take it I need to order obd1 m50 gasket set?
these can't be used with obd1 valve cover
maf
alternator
starter with threaded holes
s50 valve cover (thanks Hugh Jass). Thinking about getting it media blasted and powder coated as I don't want to run the plastic covers over it.
Need to figure out all the little things to order as well
e36 pan removed
100k on it, should probably get a new oil pump?
test fitted e34 pan
all holes line up, but need to remove the e36 oil pickup tube bracket so two main bearing bolts will have to be removed
this one
starting to have a collection of parts lol
