That's just it, maybe the picture is misleading but, it sure doesn't look symmetrical to me. The bottom "ear" for lack of a better term seems to be much further away from center than the rest of the ears.Leave a comment:

I think you're misunderstanding me, friend. The poly vs rubber argument is as old as these cars and we all have differing opinions. I'm concerned about the shape of the unit itself and how it will react when spinning at multiple thousands of revolutions per minute. I would be concerned with the balance and whether it will cause any harsh vibrations.Leave a comment:

Since when did Gm start offering these couplers for sale?
The two times i did my shaft they did not sell the couplers by themselves.
I used the softer BMW ones and tore them apart and then I went with dual solid from LG motorsports, which gave me an annoying rattle at 650 rpms.

Alright, you called my bluff. I'm not some automotive engineer, I'm a keyboard warrior. All I know is when I'm redlining the engine and driving 120+ mph on the track, or even 70 mph on the freeway, I need to have the utmost confidence in the setup I have put together. This item just doesn't instill that confidence in me. If you'd like to take the gamble, more power to you. Please report back on what you find. Its just not a chance I'd like to take.
Also, AFAIK this isn't even the first aluminum replacement flex disc, it's not like it's new technology. It's actually something I wanted when I sheered my 330ci's flex disc, but I didn't bother to look into it since the place I bought the car from replaced the one that sheered for free.
I'm also not worried about U-Joints, as the entire drivetrain is going to be held in with urethane mounts, including rear subframe mounts, so movement is not going to be a huge issue.
And I'll be further honest, I highly doubt this car ever sees a track besides perhaps the drag strip just to see what it's got, nor will I be doing 120+ on the street, I'm past that phase at this point in my life. I'm building it for my own enjoyment, I'm not loaded enough to build it as a dedicated track car.Leave a comment:
