Did he use the sensors/harness from his old motor or from the new one?
Old motor. He went from a M54B22 to a M54B30

That may be his issue - some of the wiring and sensors could be different.

I looked up the wiring on newtis.info and it all checked out to be the same. I'll ask him to see if he can try another harness

Crank sensor may be different. I know there are differences in MS45 and later DMEs, the inputs don't all work with the older sensors.

I feel like it's an input issue too. I verified part numbers with realoem and they're the same

Can you tune MS45.1 for turbo built?

                  Thanks

It can be done yes, but FI is a bit more work than the usual tunes I do.

What would be better ecu for M54 E30 swap and turbo would like Haltec or AEM ecu work for it?

                        Thanks

Sure, you can run anything on standalone.

Go whatever is easiest for you to get tuned. a $10k fancy standalone doesn't do you any good if it's running a crap tune. What's nice about a stock DME is all of the 'drivability' stuff is already done out of the box, and the diagnostics are way more advanced. The standalone gives you a lot more flexibility, but nothing will 'just work' like the stock DME - it can be just enough rope to hang yourself with if you don't know what you're doing.
