He was being overly strict on some evap rules. If I I ‘modify’ fuel sensors to work in my tank then that’s ‘modifying’ the emissions system. I argue that everything in the tank is part of the evap system where the law states that components can be integrated to use with the full functionality (DTML) of the new system. Different coding will change the calibration number I believe, so that’s a no-go. I just read some diagrams yesterday and realized I need the JBE for the fuel level and at least two other modules. I can wire them with minimum 15, 30,31 and CAN, plus any needed sensors. This will no-doubt be stupidly complicated. If I get to the ‘impossible’ point, I’m humble enough to throw in the towel. I’m not there yet but it’s getting close. This might end up being a nice 6spd to put behind my 4 banger that I hate.

part of me thinks that if I show up with a very clean install including airbox and cats, all the monitors run and a clean dyno run with an e90 instrument cluster with a functional check Eng light and working speed and fuel gauge that I would get the thumbs up.

You say "Where are your other two cylinders?"
I say "Where's your other camshaft?"
    Frankenmotor: if an M42, M44, M20, S50, and S52 were to have a kid.
