    88 IX question

I picked up two 88 IXs and wanted to change the bumpers to euros. I was told this isn't possible. I'm just confused as I could change the diving boards on my IS to the euros.

    i guess anything is... "possible".

euro bumpers fit PRE facelift cars. an 88 is a facelift car with diving boards. you can change the front valance and that will take care of that end. I've never tried to put a euro bumper on a face lift back end but i am pretty sure it won't fit right.

          euro bumpers

I put euro bumpers on a late 87 car, have to do some drilling...they are not just bolt up and go:)

an 87 car is not the same as an 88. An 88 car plastic bumpers bolt right on.

This is the same as asking if euro bumpers will bolt right on to a 92 car. They won't.

With creativity, time, and money, anything is possible. But this is not an easy project. As flyboy said, swap on an early model front valence and you should have less problems there. But for the rear... the euro bumpers will be too short on the sides. So I have no idea how you'd fix that. Cut/Weld/Rechrome probably.

Like everyone is saying... its a no go. But that early model ix sure is sexy.

^ There's the answer. Easy, simple, clean. Great solution.

Just requires cutting apart your car, welding in new panels, and a fully body respray.

that is indeed a pretty car. to me the wheel/suspension setup is completely wrong. they poke way too far outside the wheel wells, there is too much stretch, the tires are too tall, and the stance is too high almost to the point its painful to look at.

Alright fellas thanks for the advice and I agree on the stretched tires/wheel offsets. My point was more focused on the beauty of the euro appearance over the NA appearance
