To answer the last two posts, yes...the sunroof panel will still be functional. We may make a plug if there is more interest.

As for the autoclaving, no. We're going to be wet laying it by hand then bagging it. The resin we used on the fiberglass mold dries faster and lays down easier.

More updates coming this evening. Since we don't have enough material this batch for another diffuser, we went ahead and pulled the sunroof panel out. I had a couple of tiny rust spots we had to sand and fill. Got it glass smooth and primered. Pics soon

Ok, sorry for the delay. We had been working late and I never got around to posting pics.

Everything is on hold till after the 19th. Its going to be raining here all weekend, so the humidity is putting a damper on things. On top of that, I'll be heading to Texas for a few days as of Tuesday. We'll get back to work soon as I get back. I had to order a new sunroof seal anyway, so I have to wait on that as well. I cracked mine while taking it off. My roof is crash wrapped right now, lol. Also discovered a good bit of cancer spots on the under side of the panel.

Got it smooth and primered...when I get back from my trip, we'll start laying the fiberglass to mold it.

Our buddies over at s2rtuning.com already make a GORGEOUS plug. Have your friend focus on other unavailable parts, or a functional one.

Thanks for the input, but if people like ours and agree with our price...they can buy it. If they like your buddy's and buy that one, so be it.

Our original idea was to make and sell functional ones anyway, but seeing as in this thread alone, its been 50/50 on people wanting a functional vs a plug, we may just do both.

^^Thanks!! We're very confident with the new resin and the vacuum bagging that they will come out better then we expected.

Cody is a bit of a perfectionist and will go out of his way to make sure EVERYTHING is in line before even starting a final product, so expect a very high quality product at half the price of a name brand!

Functioning one is definitely coming 1st, esp its what I want on my own car..haha.

We're still up in the air on the seals...whether or not it will come with one. Mine was dry rotted all to hell, if yours is still good, then you can reuse yours. If not, it may require buying a new one.

Not what I meant at all, produce whatever you like, but most of us will want parts that are not already being made. Did not intend to come off malicious, sorry!

Glad these are getting vac bagged. I'm not a fan of brittle resin-rich parts.

Something you may find easier is to lay a large thick clear plastic sheet/ industrial garbage bag down on a workbench with the carbon on top, pour your matrix, cover it over with another plastic sheet, and work the resin through the fibre with plastic squeegees until its all saturated. Once done, peel the plastic off and lay it in place.

Pretty much eliminates the chance of pulling any fibres, and lets you see any areas that aren't fully saturated.
