Blacked Out Kidneys: Why?

I like my chrome kidneys but could not stand the chipped silver headlight trim rings...so they got blacked out

I've struggled with whether to use chrome kidneys or black kidneys on my track car.

Since when I tried on the chrome kidneys all my focus was drawn to the chrome nose of the car, I'm currently using the blacked out kidneys. I do like the signature BMW kidneys, but I really didn't like how much focus they pulled from the rest of the car. I do use chrome kidneys on my AWII with smoked headlights and full shadowline, as the light color of the car offsets the chrome.

Here are some pictures of both, which do you guys prefer?

on your car I like the chrome better... It makes the nose pop out and draws attention to the center of the car and up onto the lines of the hood

I've been wanting to replace my chrome kidney grills as the ones on my car are chalky and unsightly, can anyone direct me to a set of quality chrome grills for cheap?

don't want to fork over money for OEM replacement, but at the same time I'm hoping I can find some good ebay chrome grills (unlike ebay roundels) I can save a few $ on.

I'd say just paint them chrome if you're not going oem

both of my E30s had rattle canned black kidneys. the zinno car got some nice chrome ones, on my alpine car, I just sanded down the kidneys so it has more of a machined look. I like it. it all comes down to personal preference

Yesterday i had some free time on my hands and i thought why not paint my grill (it was faded gray pretty bad) so i decided to paint them. Took like 3 minutes to take off my grill and kidneys and to the paint shop (my patio) it went. I think it looks pretty cool. Feedback would be nice. Thanks!

Your car is on its side. I think it would look a lot better if it was right side up.

i like black or chrome, why i make it black "because i want it" my car - my rule, dont care anyone think about my car
