this retro fit is getting rediculous. I have two white base switches for my front windows and they work fine.
For the rear windows I had to go with the blue base switches.
Here's the problem: the rear e30 harness' are a little different. They have a different colored wires coming out of the base, but the socket/pin numbers are the same as the front so i didnt think it would be an issue. I used this to wire them up:
e36 e30 wire F e30 wire R e30 socket
PIN 1 = BROWN 1 = brown 4
PIN 3 = PURPLE = black/yel 8
PIN 4 = BLACK = blue/gre 1
PIN 5 = GREEN / GRAY = green/gra 3
PIN 6 = BROWN 2= brown 5
All that happens is that I blow a fuse. I have tried switchin the browns as well. Any help here? Thanks

Wouldn't it be wiser to advise the kiddies to use a heat gun to shrink the heat shrink instead of an open flame? :p
I will soon be doing this excellent upgrade myself. I am way excited to have dependable switches in my car for once!

ok, but did they come with the bases(minus the wires) and plug in the e30 wires to it? Or, did you get just the switches and have to connect that plastic thing onto the switch and then place the e30 wires via those little metal connectors? Do you have pics of yours?

no, I need large base blue or white switches, just like you used. Those are for one touch windows.
