since I have a lift wouldn't it be easier to simply drill the bumper shocks with everything in place and try to just 'kick it in' after I get the car back on the ground? Note: I haven't even looked at the back yet.

So I am itching to do this, but I looked this weekend while I was under the car replacing shifter bushings and it looks like the only place to drill with everything in place is the smaller diameter part of the shock closer to the bumper as opposed to the larger part closer to the body.
Any clarification? I just don't want to swiss cheese them, but I guess it can't hurt much.Neal Mulcahy - 84 318i

It looks like it has fog holes? Maybe stock for euro? Whatever it is, I want it. I actually like it better than mtech. WEll I'll tell myself so my wallet stays happy. But I really want to know what it is.
PS. Where is the best place to look for euro bumpers cheap?Originally posted by z31maniacI just hate everyone.

When kronus and I did mine, we took off the front but left the rear on. In any event, on both front and rear there are four bolts each holding it on, one on either side of each shock. There were an additional four bolts holding the shocks to the bumpers themselves. The front didnt look like it would be easily drilled on the car, from what I remembered, but the rear was a piece of cake. Wear googles or keep your face way the fuck away from those shocks when drilling. I highly recommend leaving the shocks uncompressed if you take them off, until you put them back on the car. There's very little room left for a socket wrench when they're pushed all the way in.I haven't looked at a DB bumper in awhile to remember how the shocks was bolted to the bumper. But i do remember that there is 6 bolts that hold the shocks onto the body. There is one in each side in the frame rail. The one above the muffler is harder to get to cause of the heat sheild.
You dont need to do any silly backing your car into a wall shit either. When kronus and I did mine, we pushed them in by hand and kicking. They werent too hard pushing in, but there's a nice bit of resistence coming back out.Last edited by accident; 01-14-2009, 01:36 AM.

yes the early euro valence has fog light holes.
Also the words euro bumpers and cheap DO NOT WORK in the same sentence. You will have to cover the entire world looking for some as there are not many sets here in the states and most are owned by people who know what they have...
Good luck with your quest, as I am still looking for a complete front and am currently sourcing one out of the motherland!

Yeah, I ended up getting my front one shipped over from Germany... Rear one, 9 months later, from Florida. Spent more than $500 total including the valence.yes the early euro valence has fog light holes.

It takes a long time and a lot of dedication to assemble a complete kit if you don't get lucky (like Jean).Comment

Damn, well I'll start looking when I have the money I suppose. What valence has the foglight holes for euro's? Like an is or es or what? It looks like the valance in kronus' sig doesn't have integrated fogs.Originally posted by z31maniacI just hate everyone.
