Megasquirt Setup Help is needed 🙏

    Hey y’all!
I have a 1988 BMW 325 (Super ETA) — stock N/A M20 2.7 block with a 325i intake manifold. I installed a Megasquirt PNP Pro but can’t get it properly tuned. There are plenty of issues, and they seem to change every time I tweak the settings a bit.

    A few examples:
    - The ECU shows “Idle” status on TPS around 1–5%, and the car jerks when it switches between Idle and Cruise.
    - Idle speed randomly fluctuates.
    - When I enable the TunerStudio autotune feature, idle RPM suddenly drops below 800 and the engine stalls.
    - At full throttle, it runs for a few seconds and then the AFR Safety system cuts fuel completely.

Is there anyone in the Austin, TX area who can set this up for me once and for all? I’m just exhausted and don’t think I can sort it out myself anymore.

We have a load bearing linked AWD Dyno in house with multiple logging abilities.  We are able to tune a multitude of platforms, including GM (HP Tuners), BMW (MS42,MS43,MSA41,motronic), Standalone (fitech, holley, megasquirt, vems, etc).  If you need something as simple as a DOD/AFM delete on your 2008+ GM truck or a co

      Isn't classicdaily in Michigan?

Tuning requires a systematic approach. If you're seeing the idle flag when you shouldn't, you change your engine state settings. If it's going lean at WOT, you add some to the VE map where it happens until it doesn't, start by adding 10% across the whole WOT area of the map. Auto tune is for refining a map that is already running fine to target values, not for fixing problems with a map that is so off base it doesn't even run right. The AFR safety cutoff ratio is adjustable, too. I'm not sure what your base map/default setting is, but verify it isn't set aggressively like it would be on a turbo car, stock M20s run surprisingly lean at WOT and if your AFR safety kicking in at 12.5:1 or something it's not helping anything tuning a car that stock was seeing 13-14:1 at WOT on motronic.
