what he probably meant was the electronic conversion from points.... but 318i dizzys are already electronic... so not really sure what he could be talking about.'84 318i M10B18 147- Safari Beige

E30, your right, the Dizzys are "pointless" wich is why they are electronic.
Now, if you excuse me, I need to go set the points on my John Deere, it wont start and I havent got the Petronix Pointless distributor for it yet.
Damn points

I found M10 poly mounts from Revshift. They offer a soft/street version & hard/race. Going to bite the bullet & street the race mounts.

3k idle any ideas? For sure the icv & module r at fault. Using the penny method at the moment to tame it down to around 1100rpm.
When I unplug the connector from icv idle jumps a bit. Does that mean only module is at fault.
Small vacuum line on intake boot broke off any effect on idle?
Haven't checked the tps but I have an almost new replacement.
Wont hold idle on cold start. Replaced the inline pump & helped a bit. Turns out the in tank pump was only supplying fuel.
Haven't checked the thermostat yet, but my fan doesn't kick on. Will replace the relays to see if fan kicks on.
Radiator has a crack in it so won't hold fluid. Found a replacement & need to flush system.
Adjusted timing with a light from the view window on the trans. & the little sensor ahead of the air box is broken.
Anything else i need to check?

Lots of intake leaks & a questionable ICV

No. The ICV can still be sticking & remember its default position is wide open

Ummm...YES & YES again

Since you say relays I assume you mean the aux fan. It should only kick in when the AC is on or when it hits the set point of your temp sensor. Likeliest culprit is the fan resister. Swap out the 15A fuse #4 for a 30A then jump the resistor to confirm your fan works

fluid will help :-)

Well got the idle down to 2k.
Checked my Tstat temp sensor looks good no crazy build up. I have a feeling my tstat is stick open. Haven't been able to boil it yet. Car is siting 40miles from my house so need to limp it home.
Going to wrap up the intake boot with duct tape & see if I can eliminate some leaks.
Anyway to test icv & module? I've already cleaned icv to no avail

I removed my ICV and solved my hunting idle. I recommend you do the same. Also, I do not run an auxiliary fan and do not have any temperature problems. Even when stuck in LA traffic for 2 hours on a 100 degree day, it kept constant (Did get warm, but I kept my eye on it, and it never went above 3/4) Under most circumstances, the mechanical fan will suffice.

I check the tps it's clicking. Still haven't done the thermostat. Im quite sure I have vacuum leaks.
When its hot out car starts to misfire & lose power. At night it's completely fine. What does this mean?
