    Piston questions

    I've got some Mahle 89V44's here, but they seem to be a hemi piston. What is this exactly? I can't find ANYTHING about them. I've emailed a few 2002 guys and they seem to think they're a rare set of high comps... Anyone else have them?

      To me they look like the stock 84 pistons. I also found these:

        I know that they are a higher compression than later M10 pistons, but this just, it confuses me. Damnit, BMW.

            Any numbers cast into the underside? i pistons have part #'s there...never fooled with the older engines.

              That looks like a standard 1.8i head piston to me, too...
              ...clean the dome, and see if you can find any numbers stamped into it...

                  got that style in my 84 block, Had a 85 block with the piano style in it.
