E30 M20 Electronic Fan Radiator Shroud

Does anyone recommend an electric fan radiator shroud that works with the 16" Spal fans? Wanting a shroud that goes in with minor modification.

I've bought the mishimoto fans kit for E36 and removed the mishi fan and put on a spal. Cut off the bracket for e36 tank, and now you have an alright fan holder, not shroud though.

Zionsville Motorsports used to make some crazy shrouds that held fans.

For $400 complete you'd hope the shroud wouldn't have big honkin' gaps that you can easily see in the product pictures... I have doubts that will actually fit a 6cyl E30 at all. If those gaps go all the way around that is a pretty crappy shroud and should have some sealing strips. Keep in mind that clearance makes it harder to make an effective fan shroud that allows the fan to pull air across the entire area of the radiator, especially if you have an upgraded radiator that is thicker than stock. Most people just bracket the e-fan directly to the radiator, and a 16" fan's swept area is around 60% of the radiator core's area which is not terrible.

The fan really is working when you're below 35mph or so.. If you don't have flaps to let air pass through your killing your efficiency of cooling over 35mph when at speed.

I don't mind their fan controller either, you can get with an NPT sensor

Take mishimoto fan off, cut off useless tabs, put Spal on. Usually have to bend to get a nice tight clearance to radiator, I usually put thick foam around fan bracket so it makes a seal to radiator. Rock out. I put fan controller sensor in head on race car, in radiator on street car.
