    SPAL temp sender placement?

    I have the SPAL wiring kit from Race German that has a beefy temperature sender included (185F) with 3/8 NPT threads and about 16mm diameter. As the temp sender is fairy large, it will not fit in my thermostat housing.

    Race German says you've got to weld a threaded hole into your radiator to support this. Ugh.

    I'm looking at doing this differently and finding a in-line radiator hose adapter that I can put the temp sender into.

    But everything out there is 1/8 NPT and the SPAL sender is 3/8 NPT.

    Has anyone done something like this for their electric fan setup?

    Yes, I am trying to preserve my AUX fan wiring/control/temp sender as I have A/C in my car.

        Is the sender a switch or a NTC sensor? I would opt to replace it with something 1/8 NPT

          It looks like a temp sender, but it's a also a switch.

          I have seen some kits with a 1/8 NPT switch/sender, might give that a try.

            I usually put them in the head on race cars and in the output side of the radiators like factory on street cars. A 1/8 npt inch should be a be available and autometer makes metric to npt adapters.

              How many pins does it have? if it is only 2 and there isn't any smart box to control the fan you can probably safely just find another thermo switch.

                It's only one pin. I'll look for other thermo switches that are 1/8 NPT.

                  You may be able to find an M14x1.5 to 3/8NPT adapter that will screw into the stock fan switch port.

                    Out of curiosity, Why not using the stock aux fan circuit to connect any custom fan, You may replace radiator switch with lower temperature switch like for example 75C?

                    I am planing to try this with the stock aux fan after deleting the clutch fan.
