Alot less then it would cost to build a proper forced induction setup that looks the part and runs as well as a N/A motor.

Turbo'ed m20's rarely if ever seem to run right, and thats not acceptable on my daily driver.

I installed the head today! Assembled what I could on it at home last night, then drive all my parts into work and got to it! I was at it from 10am-8pm today. Figure I have a few more hours left tomorrow reconnecting wires, and plumbing etc.

      Some pictures:

Valve train hardware all neatly laid out.

Head casting with valves partially installed.

Closeup of valve stem, guide, and stem seal.

      Exhaust port closeup, closed valve.

      Intake port closeup, closed valve.

Bottom of head, all valves installed.

Gay head, gay exhaust manifolds.. general mess.

Carbonated mess. This is why you should install a catch can or some sort of oil seperator the first time!

Closeup of carbon coated JE Forged Piston.

Mmm cleaned up to an acceptable state.

Head, intake manifold, ready to "drop on"

      Breathe deep baby. Breath deep.

looks good, gives me ideas on how to improve my port job next time my head comes off. the headers look great too, but have fun changing your oil filter! :(

Its not as bad as you think!!

There is more then enough room to spin it off from below, hot, with a gloved hand. These headers are very well laid out.

I'll post a picture of that angle tomorrow after I finish it up.

ah. all I know is changing the oil filter now is MUCH easier than it was with the stock manifolds. I don't even need a glove :D

wonder if those headers would fit an ix? I guess I should be happy with what I have though..

Great work! Thanks for sharing, what caused all that carbon so fast?

The carbon is a byproduct of the engine ingesting crankcase vapors recycled through the breather tube. Such is the norm for m20's.

hahaha I doubt you spent less than what I spent in my engine  and my engine when it was stock (turboed) will smoke any m20 tuned out there no matter what they could say, well any m20 turbo well tuned and decent boost.

well for daily driver perhaps is better the N.A. if you want reliable engine.

Got everything buttoned up this evening.

Damn does the car RIP now. Exhaust note is B-E-A UTIFUL.

I only drove it 3miles from the shop to home, but damn. Pulls much harder throughout the rpm band, particularly better up high. I have to replace #5E eccentric as the valve stem was ground a touch too much by my machinest. I will toss a oversize one on there and all will be good! Current valve adjustment is .010, with the loose one at .018 (very noisy)

Kristin was following me home and told me when I go WOT "You dump out black stinky smoke out of your exhaust, it smells like rotten eggs!" Heh... I run rich, but should be able to dial that back now as detonation is completely gone. Rotten egg smell is Sulfur of course, not being clensed in the non existant cats.

My stock exhaust and "eh" head were really holding this motor back. I can't wait to replace the loose eccentric and get this on the dyno for retuning!

First pic of those last two is wood-inducing.

                            Very nice work.

Then the problem lies in the software, and nothing else. My car ran much stronger when still n/a after ditching the motronic management. If you know what your doing and how to tune an AFR, then the m20 will run like oem (or better), whether it be n/a, turbo, s/c...

Looks good, but in the end its still <200whp. I'll pass.
