Yeah. I need to find a local Dynojet and I will do a couple runs without a retune to see the changes.

I won't be able to retune for awhile though as its $$$.

I'm curious to see what your oil seperator is composed of. Any pictures or information?

Later production E30 M3's had them stock. Should be able to make one work on an M20.

                Jordan-

Headers looks badass! Our E28 M5 dumps the same black soot all over with no cats as well... but does it make a heavenly note. Again our headers look identical but mine of course do not have ceramic coating, to date.

                Again work looks grade A.

                    Looks great!

I was wondering how you cleaned the carbon off the piston tops and got the top of the block so clean? Is it ok to use something like maroon scotchbrite?

Looks like great stuff Jordan. I'd love to see/hear a video too. I'll bet it screams like a banshee at WOT. I also look forward to seeing the dyno/tuning results.

                      Thanks!

                        3M Roloc Bristle Discs

Using abrasive materials that will get castoff into the block water passages and into the bores is a big no no. Those are what I use.

The bristle discs surely conform to the workpiece well, but aren't they still abrasive? I see the bristle discs are categorized by grit size. Do you have a method of removing the dirt (oil, carbon) that this cleaning procedure creates? I have to do something similar to a whole bunch of scuzzed up piston tops.

                          Thanks!

They are not abrasive in the sense of small abrasive particles glued to paper.

They are just plastic bristles, or various density and the "grit" is an approximation of its comparible paper grit.

If memory serves green is the hardest, yellow in the middle, and white is the most soft.

                            I used a yellow.

All the carbon spinoff, and the gasket material is easily washed up and cleaned away with brake cleaner.

Gotcha. Sounds like the best way to go about cleaning tough grime without contaminating the water and oil passages with particulates. Your block looks super clean, hopefully now the oil separator will keep carbon buildup from happening again!

Would having an extended die grinder help do the job?
