how often do you do valve adjustments?

Every 2-3 oil changes so about 8-12k miles it doesn't cost anything to do a valve adjustment so I don't see why you wouldn't do it fairly often88 325is Five SpeedLachssilberComment

OK, now I can argue with you ;)
the space doesn't have to be the same if one side is longer than the other - they'll be proportional, but not equal.
So you could still have the play, but if you did the adjustment with the feeler gauge in the "wrong" place, you'd be setting the wrong clearance.
did that make sense?

Adjust to .010 then put a .005 on the cam side and measure the gap on the valve side..then let us know :DSeat Shocks....I have passed the baton to John Christy from Ninestitch. Email John or Garrett at ninestitch1@gmail.com

Well I'm not saying its 2:1, but I don't think it's 1:1. I thought I read somewhere once that cam side adjustments were somewhere around .009" but I can't seem to find it for reference.

X1 > X2
like so:
if one side is longer, moving short side x amount moves long side y amount.

Funny story, I once did a valve adjustment with a can of herring:

No shit, but seriously angled feeler gauge is less than $5 at HF. But, I guess you can eat Herring Fillets and adjust the valves afterward. It's a toss-up.Comment
